Guideline Electronics ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit our website, use our apps, shop in our stores, or interact with our customer service, and what we do with it.
2. Data we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — name, email, phone, password (hashed), shipping addresses, preferences;
- Order details — items purchased, totals, payment method (we never store full card numbers — only the last 4 digits via Stripe's tokenization);
- Communications — messages, support tickets, chat transcripts, call recordings (with consent);
- Reviews and ratings you submit;
- Lesson and travel bookings, including any health/dietary information you volunteer for travel arrangements.
Information collected automatically
- Device and connection — IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system;
- Usage — pages visited, time on page, referrer, search queries;
- Cookies and similar technologies — see section 5.
Information from third parties
- Social login providers — when you sign in via Facebook, Instagram, Google, or Apple, we receive your name, email, and a unique ID (only what you authorize);
- Payment processors — confirmation, fraud signals, last 4 digits and card brand;
- Shipping carriers — delivery status updates.

4. Who we share it with
We share personal data only with the following categories of recipients, and only to the extent necessary:
- Service providers we contract with: Stripe (payments), FedEx/UPS/USPS/DHL (shipping), Twilio/SendGrid (email + SMS), AWS (hosting), QuickBooks (accounting);
- Travel suppliers for bookings you make (hotels, tour operators, transfer providers);
- Marketing platforms only with your consent: Meta, TikTok, Google;
- Law enforcement when legally required (subpoena, court order, lawful request);
- Successor entities in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
We do not sell personal data to third parties.
5. Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences (theme, language, currency), enable cart functionality, measure traffic, and (with your consent) personalize advertising. You can manage cookie preferences through our cookie banner or your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies will impair core site functionality.

6. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
- Delete your data (subject to legal retention obligations like tax records);
- Export your data in a portable format (JSON or CSV);
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest;
- Withdraw consent at any time (e.g. unsubscribe from marketing);
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Information Commissioner of Jamaica or your local data-protection authority.
Use Account → Privacy to exercise any of these rights, or email privacy@guideline.com. We respond to verified requests within 30 days.
7. Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as necessary:
- Account data: while your account is active, plus 24 months after closure;
- Order and tax records: 7 years (legal requirement);
- Support tickets and chat logs: 3 years;
- Marketing consent records: 5 years;
- Analytics aggregates: indefinitely (de-identified).
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including TLS 1.3 encryption in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest, bcrypt-hashed passwords, role-based access controls, daily backups, intrusion detection, and PCI DSS compliance for payment data. No system is 100% secure; in the event of a breach affecting your data we will notify you and the relevant authority within 72 hours as required by law.
9. Children's privacy
Our services are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, contact privacy@guideline.com and we will delete it.
10. International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries outside Jamaica (typically the United States and the European Union where some of our service providers are located). We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy decisions, and other lawful transfer mechanisms to ensure your data receives equivalent protection.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision.
